n8n Workflow Control is a Chrome extension for self-hosted n8n 2.x instances. It adds workflow governance tools inside a logged-in n8n workspace, including schedule visibility, publish-change summaries, unpublished-change badges, and grouped workflow backups.

Data Processed Locally

The extension may read workflow metadata and workflow JSON from n8n pages where the user has explicitly granted host access. This can include workflow names, node names, node parameters, schedules, connections, settings, archive status, and publish state.

The extension also stores the list of n8n hosts added by the user in Chrome local storage.

No External Collection

n8n Workflow Control does not send workflow data to an external backend. It does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or remote telemetry. It does not sell, share, or transfer user data to third parties.

Workflow data is used locally in the browser to render the extension UI, prepare publish-change summaries, and generate backup files requested by the user.

Backups

When the user exports a backup, the extension creates a ZIP file locally in the browser and downloads it to the user's device. The backup file is not uploaded by the extension.

Host Permissions

The extension requests access only to n8n hosts explicitly added by the user. Self-hosted n8n can run on different domains and protocols, so the extension uses optional host permissions and applies them only after user configuration.

API Keys

n8n Workflow Control does not require or store n8n API keys.
